The Crossbreed gene skipped over him and landed in his twin sister. He's never forgiven himself for her murder by Eradicators. Griff is blind in both eyes from a bomb blast. The story of how he sees the world now is a nail-biter.

Every parent's great fear is their child could be born with a defect. How agonizing would it be if you had to wait 13 years before you knew? Butch turned when he entered puberty. Fearing the Eradicators would find him, his family kept him in their basement labotory. This was not as dreary as you might think. His Mother was a neurosurgeon, and his father was a scientist specializing in nano tech and robotics. They showered him with knowledge.

At 12 years old Jesse ran away from home to escape his parent's insanity. Panicked that he would turn, they subjected him to every crazy voodoo cure imaginable. He drew the line at rituals with live rattlesnakes. The boy found a new home with the Trueblade family where he learned to ride motorcycles and shoot like Jesse James. Fearless and cocky he's a star performer and popular with the girls.

Designed and built by Butch and Griff Gladius is a masterpiece of Artificial Vehicular Intelligence. Made from top-secret prewar super tech, Gladius is equipped with nano skin, speech programming, and a host of sensory features. His personality programming is such that he is often comic relief.
